Fringe Benefits Tax

Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) is a tax payable by employers on the value of certain specified fringe benefits which have been provided to their employees or to associates of those employees. A 'benefit' is widely defined to include any right, privilege, service or facility.

FBT is not 'double taxation'. Fringe benefits are free of income tax in the hands of employees, and generally employers may claim the cost of providing fringe benefits as an income tax deduction.

There are a number of categories of fringe benefits:

  • Car Fringe Benefits
  • Loan Fringe Benefits
  • Debt Waiver Fringe Benefits
  • Housing Fringe Benefits
  • Meal / Entertainment Fringe Benefits
  • Car Parking Fringe Benefits
  • Property Fringe Benefits
